Tombo tuna is a warm water albacore species found in the tropics, sub-tropics, and warm temperate Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. The flavor is mild, rich, and ocean-fresh; the texture is firm, dense, steaky, and moist.

Honolulu Catch receives most of its Tombo tuna from the well-managed and sustainable Hawaiian fishery, but will also receive some product from the Southwestern Pacific depending upon the fish’s migratory pattern. Tombo is caught using longlines, handlines, and by trolling, and average around 60-80 pounds round weight. The fish hits the docks only hours after being caught and we receive fresh shipments daily. We fulfill outgoing orders the same day that we receive the fish.
